WHY WE CHOSE ADOPTION
We both love kids! With two grown daughters from his first marriage, Jun knows the joy of fatherhood. However, Drew, who is a loving uncle to several nieces, has yet to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a dad. We’re excited to raise a child together.
After exploring other options open to us, including surrogacy, we’ve decided on adoption because we’ve seen firsthand the life-changing impact of adoption. Drew’s best friend, Meghan, was raised in a loving adoptive family. Jun was brought up in a household alongside his half-brother and stepfather. We believe family is not about biology, it’s about love.
OUR LOVE STORY
When we met six years ago, we were in a similar place in life. Divorced. Heartbroken. Hopeful, but weary. We met online, and after texting back and forth for weeks, we met for brunch at Jun’s place. We talked. We laughed. We felt an instant connection. A spark! Sitting at the piano, Jun played Elton John's "Your Song," serenading Drew (a bold move for a first date!). In that heartfelt moment, we both knew there was something deeper neither of us expected, but both longed for — a second chance at love.
Brunch turned into dates, exploring the sites of Seattle. Hikes through the woods. Walks on the beach. Dinner and dancing in the city. We’ve been dating each other ever since!
On July 2022, surrounded by our family and friends, we celebrated our love with a great big wedding at our church. As Drew walked down the aisle, Jun sat at the piano and sang that familiar Elton John lyric, “I know it ain’t much, but it’s the best I can do. My gift is my song and this one’s for Drew!”
Our love story continues to unfold every day. And we don’t take for granted how lucky we are to have found each other and to enjoy life with our best friend and true love.
